I rarely look for tarot decks (or anything else) on eBay. For some reason though I just happened to catch a mint copy of this 1984 French reproduction being offered for next to nothing. It turned out to be part of a group of decks being liquidated by US Games. This has very quickly become one of my two favorite tarot reading decks.
These interviews are conducted as if we were speaking directly to the spirit of the deck.
Jacques Vieville Tarot Interview
1. Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic?
I am of the last of an old tradition. I still have much to give. Though ancient, my truth is sweet, sound and strengthening. Have no fear. You’ll be able to understand what I say.
2. What are your strengths as a tarot deck?
I am exceedingly clear in my words and messages. My eyes are open and my gaze sure. I can easily discern lies and self-deceptions. You will, too, through our work.
I am of royal lineage and can guide with authority.
3. What are your limits as a tarot deck?
I have completed a full cycle of pause away from the action of your world. Do you know the rhythms of my world? Some traditional knowledge has been lost. This is certain. I am old and will require your patience if you wish to know my depths and understand my secrets.
4. What are you here to teach us?
Astrologers measure against the stars. In reading tarot cards my advice to you is to look not up, but just as Pendu, inwardly and down. Hold me in your hands as a key. Use the four suits as a foundation. This will allow you safely to enter into the bright light of the majors. In the end you will sit secure in your wisdom and understanding.
5. How can we best learn from and collaborate with you?
Imagine yourself bounded above and below with sound guidance. Imagine you are protected, and have all you need to grow, develop and understand.
6. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
Note: in this reading, a completely blank card came up in this position. This is a symbol of the void, implying transcendence.
Any final message?
Have an attitude of rest and calmness of mind. Be satisfied. Your beauty of spirit wan only grow for the benefit of others and for yourself.
All in all, simply be ready to receive. I have much to give you.

Hi Marina,
I’ve started leaving the blank cards in now on decks that have them. It’s one way to create the “blank spot” that Umbrae talks about in one of his older posts on the Aeclectic Forum. That blank spot, according to Umbrae, is a key to powerful readings. He makes a strong case.
In terms of your experience – sometimes tarot will tell us when we’re try to get information that we’ve already received. It happens to many of us at times. Sometimes that’s the time to start calling up friends and offering some readings.
Be well and thanks again for the comment.
Alec
Wow! I was really surprised by the “blank” card showing up. It happened to me once. I was reading tarot about an issue I had already asked before, but forgot to remove those extra title cards. Guess what showed up? I think it was the deck telling me to stop asking and just live my life a bit
This isn’t the kind of deck I’d usually pick, but I must admit the reading sounded very poetic and… regal. I even made me look at it in a different light…
