Things are lining up! These three wands side by side suggest a steady progression. The yellow-orange background suggests dawn’s arising. This is the time of the day when the fire of the sun shows itself again at the very start of the new day. This solar energy makes possible everything on earth. Sometimes Wands are referred to as the “project” suit. Thinking about them in this way, the activity phase is about ready to begin.

What’s the story of the Three of Wands?

It’s time to manifest the dream into reality.

All four aces make their appearance in this spread. There is an irrepressible and pregnant energy pulsing forward to be born. At first you might think that the ace of cups is missing – but look closer. There it is in the hands of the Knight. We can understand from this that the time of dreaming is passing away. The Page of Wands steps forward.

The Page

At the top of the spread the Page has positioned his body with readiness to move. His hand grasps his staff. He looks back one last time to be sure of his commitment. In an instant he will step forward and proceed with fresh, young strength and enthusiasm.

The Progression of the Three of Wands

All cards in this spread can be seen to revolve around a wheel represented by the Ace of Coins at the center. Projects, like life, move in a process from the initial spark of conception to final conclusion. Stepping around the cards we see the development to date of the Three of Wands. The initial idea at 3 am is thought through, tried and tested at 6 o’clock. By 9 am the desire and uncertainty of the Two of Wands holds sway. Now, at the noon of the Three of Wands, the ace of coins will flip upright much as the display of an old flip clock turns at the proper moment of change. When the Ace of Coins turns, which will happen at any moment, the first fruits of the work already in progress will be revealed.
