The XX Judgement Card is one of my favorite cards in the tarot deck. In my readings for myself and others, this card heralds wonderful things. Let’s take a quick look at what the tarot itself says about this card.
The Tarot Judgement Card – First Impressions
At the top of the card is a winged angel emerging from dark clouds and sounding a trumpet. The red behind the angel and emerging from the trumpet brings to mind blood and therefore life.
The trumpet itself points to a person rising naked from a box. The central figure watching the angel is reminiscent of the right acolyte on major arcana card 5. Facing forward are two others with hands in a prayer position. The right, white-faced man looks at the trumpet. The white-faced woman looks at the man.
Around the angel are 11 drops. These bring to mind the harmony and mastery of the strength card.
The changes will bring a closer alignment with the highest good.
Together this gives the sense that the work is done. Deliverance has been achieved. It’s time to receive what has been given with an attitude of humility and thanks.
Tarot on The Tarot Judgement Card

The first thing to notice with this spread is how all the cards depict people. This card is personal.
In the center is the King of Swords holding the sword of justice high in front. A sharpened wand is held to his side. The spirit behind XX Judgement has clear intention and is ready to act now. He’s positioned to ensure that nothing will interfere with what is coming.
Above all the VIIII Hermit shows the spirit holding the light of truth, love and enlightenment at the very top. The Judgement card brings clarity to all. Healing must start with a true assessment of what is. Judgement sees all without guile.
But it doesn’t stop here.
Cards 1, 2 and 3 in the spread resemble card X Wheel. The knights in position 1 and 3 carry out the judgement on rich, poor, high and low. Whether we like it or not, transformation will occur. Fight, go willingly, hide or run. It makes no difference to XX Judgement. Looking at cards 1, 2, 3, and 4, you can see that all suits are represented. Judgement changes everything. Because the change is enlightened by the lamp of the Hermit, suggesting the light of XIX Sun, the changes will bring a closer alignment with their highest good.
The final result is seen in position 5. The recipient of XX Judgement has caught the light, holds it before herself, and moves forward with a renewed youthfulness and harmony.
