Flornoy Noblet Tarot
This entry is part 3 of 31 in the series Tarot Decks

The Flornoy Jean Noblet tarot deck is one of those decks that can renew one’s love affair with tarot. It is one of the oldest surviving tarot decks, and has been lovingly and painstakingly renewed card by card by Jean-Claude Flornoy.

Flornoy’s desire was to make this Marseille tarot young again for the benefit of a new generation of readers. You can be the judge as to how well he succeeded. From my perspective, holding this deck transports me back beyond the deck’s birth in 1650 to that place from which all tarot inspiration derives. From the start of my introduction to it, the Noblet’s light made most other of my decks appear somewhat dim. It remains my primary “go to” deck and transformed me into a lover of the tarot de Marseille.

FireRaven’s New Deck Interview spread was used as described in the Interview with the Il Meneghello Soprafino post.

Interviewing the Noblet Tarot

Flornoy Noblet Tarot

1. Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic?

I can help you gain valuable perspective through “heightened and balanced” intuition. I’ll whisper to you and watch over your shoulder as you read.

2. What are your strengths as a tarot deck?

While you have a tendency to distrust your gifts, as a deck I will help you counteract that by being more open. This should make it easier for you to be more open with your skills.

3. What are your limits as a tarot deck?

I am a confident deck concerned mostly with passing my wisdom and proven success on to posterity. Though beautiful, I am clear and blunt.

4. What are you here to teach us?

I offer you a direct pathway to the messages of the heart, tempered with the filter of time. I speak with less concern for gentleness and more concern for clarity with compassion.

5. How can we best learn from and collaborate with you?

Don’t force me to conform to your fixed notions and definitions. Rather, allow me to move freely and uncaged.

6. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?

Together we can successfully complete the work we together set out to do.
