The Langustl Tarot is a creation of Stephan Lange, a sculptor, woodcarver, therapist and musician from the Blackforest area of Germany. The deck came to me in a trade from Aurarcana, a friend from the Aeclectic Forum. Thanks, Aurarcana!
Stephan’s Langustl Tarot is immediately recognizable by the strong, evocative artwork. Much thought has gone into the individual images. This is not a simple Rider-Waite-Smith clone, nor is it a pure art tarot. Rather, the artist intends this deck to be used for reading. As he states in the LWB1, Strong contrasts, intense colors and a simple mode of representation make the images emotionally available to the viewer’s inner child.

Tarot Deck Interview with the Langustl Tarot
1. Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic?
I move and breathe in the world of matter, and understand what it’s like to be faced with real life concerns. If you are struggling and feel alone, I can be a light and comfort. (5 of Coins)
2. What are your strengths as a tarot deck?
I am at home with strong feelings – grief, sadness, loss and pain – and am uniquely suited to help readers and querents navigate the paths that these emotions may take. (5 of Cups)
3. What are your limits as a tarot deck?
My psychological orientation is always present in Langustl readings. (10 of Cups)
4. What are you here to teach us?
If you learn nothing else from me, I would seek to help you find harmony and peace of mind in your day to day life. (Queen of Coins)
5. How can we best learn from and collaborate with you?
Be brave. Be bold. Be willing to grab hold of an idea and seek its manifestation in the world. (Ace of Swords)
6. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
My desire for you is that you are filled with confidence, energy and desire to make your soul’s journey now. (Ace of Wands (reversed))
7. Any final words?
You may find yourself in a time when you don’t know what the cards are telling you. Think of me – I can help shed light on your path. (Eight of Swords (reversed))
Where can you find the Langustl Tarot?
The Langustl Tarot is easily available directly from Stephan Lange. If you like the looks of this deck, please support the artist by purchasing a copy. Your purchase will definitely be appreciated.

Thanks for this article, Alec.
Best wishes Langustl
Langustl,
Perhaps I should add to the article, “This is a psychic deck!” Just this morning I grabbed the Langustl deck for my readings today. Checking my email I see this comment from you. Very nice.
Thanks for your comment, and especially for creating your deck. Let’s hope this post brings it in front of more readers.
Alec
I love bright colors and Radiant RWS is my favorite deck, though I do have many others which I love a lot, like the Deviant Moon deck. In Langustl Tarot I enjoy the bold simple imagery, which indeed reminds of kids’ art attempts and the bright, vivid coloring. I am really tempted to buy it: Thank you for putting us in touch with this interesting deck, Alec!
